Specialized cancer pain treatment facility The Aspire Pain Relief Institute was founded in 2014 by Dr. Jose E. Sarria in Wesley Chapel, Florida. The physicians at The Aspire Pain Relief Institute are logical, clear-minded professionals who work tirelessly to make a difference in their patients’ lives. Passion and purpose are the foundation of their work ethic. Dr. Sarria and his dynamic team adhere to the following four principles as they focus on the value of providing excellent pain management care: Compassion, Knowledge, Awareness, and Value.

Specialized Cancer Pain Treatment and Palliative Care Facility
Dr. Jose E. Sarria founded the Aspire Pain Relief Instiute in the Tampa Bay area, Florida with the goal to fulfill the unmet need for specialized cancer pain and symptom management in the community. The physicians at The Aspire Pain Relief Institute work tirelessly to make a difference in their patients’ lives. Passion and purpose are the foundation of their work ethic.

Answering the Call for Cancer Pain Relief
Dr. Sarria believes that many patients inflicted with cancer pain and other symptoms are being under treated and misunderstood. Future projections indicate oncology and primary care physicians will be in short supply while cancer rates continue to climb and according to the National Institute of Health fact sheets, pain may even constitute a barrier to cancer treatment. (
With The Aspire Pain Relief Institute’s team by your side, you are not alone. Their team customizes treatment plans to address the individual needs of each patient.

Addressing Flaws in Today’s Healthcare System
Sadly, many cancer patients are experiencing increased financial, medical and systemic flaws in our healthcare system. This reality has decreased communication between patient and doctor, increased healthcare cost and treatment non-compliance, and decreased quality of life, caused caregiver strain and emotional distress. All of these factors contribute to poor medical outcomes. The Aspire Pain Relief Institute recognizes these problems and attempts to institute an alternative approach that eases the burden and provides hope and support.

After 10 years as Chief of the Pain Medicine Service at Moffitt Cancer Center, Dr. Sarria founded The Peregrine Institute in Wesley Chapel, Florida in order to fulfill the growing need in the community for comprehensive Pain and Symptom Management of Cancer patients as well as Chronic Pain patients.

    Dr Jose E. Sarria

Board-Certified Pain Medicine and Palliative Care physician.

Also known as Supportive Care Medicine. Palliative care doctors are specialists in treating symptoms and suffering. The most common symptom of cancer is pain but others can be just as distressing including nausea, vomiting, fatigue, anxiety, depression, constipation, diarrhea, weight loss and lack of appetite, confusion or shortness of breath. With interventions that effectively address these issues, quality of life is positively impacted and outcomes are improved

Palliative care doctors frequently become your main advocate, helping you understand the complexities of your disease and treatment plan, providing resources or just being there to answer questions and give support.

The widespread misconception that Palliative Care Medicine is only for those who are dying has had a pervasive effect on how patients obtain access to relief of pain and suffering when confronted with a cancer diagnosis.

Cancer survivors are a growing population that frequently find themselves in limbo when it comes to getting the help necessary to address persisting issues that remain after they are declared n remission or cancer-free.Once again, pain is the most common of these issues. All three mainstays of cancer treatment (surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy) can cause chronic pain. Returning to a functional life can be challenging and these patients frequently feel guilty to “complain” after surviving that terrible disease. But their suffering is very real and sometimes overwhelming.

At The Aspire Pain Relief Institute, cancer survivors have a special place, we will make sure you can enjoy your gift with renewed energy to move on.

    Cancer Patient

“Dear Sarria, Just a Note to tell you that you are the most kind and compassionate Doctor I have ever met. I am a little anxious for my procedure on 5/23 in hope to have relief for some of the pain I have experienced over the years. I feel safe to know I will be in your hands! Sincerely.”

“Dear Dr. Sarria, I just wanted to say thank you! Thank you for deciding on using Synvisc for my left knee. By doing these injections you have given quality of life back that I never thought I’d get again. It all started with the injections that allowed me to not only attend my son’s wedding but to dance with him on Sept. 6, 2014. The second we stepped onto the dance floor the entire reception went to the second floor which was all balcony to watch. They hadn’t even done that for the bride and her father, I was told there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
This was the first time in 30 years I was able to go without my leg braces and cane for balance. Because of you I was able to dance with my son on his wedding day, something I will never forget. Words can not possible express how much that meant to me. I get stronger every day, and cannot begin to explain what an impact you’ve had on my life. God Bless You!”
